Nexon America has decided that their side-scrolling MOBA-like online battler could do with an expanded audience. The company has confirmed a Hyper Universe Xbox One release date of Tuesday, August 7th along with plans to showcase the game in the months leading up to its console debut.
Hyper Universe will be a console exclusive for the Xbox One family of systems, with 4K HD and HDR enhancements for those with the Xbox One X system. Hyper Universe’s console release will feature all the game’s bells and whistles: 4v4 online battles, co-op multiplayer vs. AI for up to four players, two maps, and custom matches and spectator mode.
“Bringing one of the most unique MOBA experiences on the market to the Xbox console represents a huge opportunity for us,” said Nexon America president Jungsoo Lee. “The fast-paced action of MOBA video games forces players to think strategically, and we know console gamers will love it.”
Hyper Universe will be drumming up interest through a stream from E3 on June 13th from the official Xbox channel on Mixer. There will also be codes handed out for an exclusive skin during the Xbox FanFest at E3 on June 10th and 11th.
Our Thoughts
While our own review found Hyper Universe a fun game with some unfortunate limitations, we do think that a game like this would likely play well on consoles. With that in mind, we hope that Xbox One players find something here worth trying out.
