Sega has announced that Shining Resonance Refrain will be released in North America and Europe on July 10, 2018. The game will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch priced at $49.99. A physical launch edition will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch that puts the game in a collectible metal slipcase featuring character artwork.
In addition, Sega also released a new character trailer introducing six major characters, as well some information about the some of the gameplay systems. The first character shown in the video below is Kirika Towa Alma, who uses a bow to deal damage as well as healing her allies with magic. Second is Sonia Blanche, who uses a sword and shield to do quick bursts of damage. Third is Agnum Bulletheart, who likes to be the center of attention and uses explosive fire magic. Fourth is Lestin Sera Alma, who uses ice-based magic to slow down opponents and wields a halberd. The penultimate character is Rinna, who has a lighthearted attitude and deals magical damage form the back lines. Finally, there is main protagonist Yuma Ilvern, who uses the power of the Shining Dragon.
Shining Resonance Refrain uses the B.A.N.D. (Battle Anthem of the Noble Dragoneers) system, where characters being a musical performance during combat. Players need to build up BPM (Battle Performance Mana) in order to be able to perform a song, which can grant powerful buffs on the party or debuffs on the enemy, depending on which song is performed.
Shining Resonance Refrain is an enhanced port of the 2014 Japan-only PlayStation 3 title Shining Resonance. The Refrain version includes all the DLC of the original release as well as two new playable characters who join in a what-if scenario geared towards players who have already played through the game.
