“With an in-game economy that features currency that’s exchangeable with real-world dollars, and a multi-planet universe where players can be whatever they want, Entropia Universe may be the game that most closely resembles the OASIS in Ready Player One, the feature film debuting this week.” That’s verbatim the rationale behind an upcoming Entropia Universe event that will have players seeking keys and earning the cash equivalent of $5,000 US.
Here’s how it works: players will need to follow a scavenger hunt in order to locate pieces of three Enigma Keys, facing challenges designed to test the player’s courage, reasoning and problem-solving skills. The one who finds all three of these keys will net themselves a prize worth 50,000 Project Entropia Dollars – the equivalent of $5,000.
To begin the first leg of this hunt, players will need to first speak with the NPC Karona Cinquanto at Camp Icarus. The hunt will begin starting tomorrow, March 29th. The full rules and details can be found here.
Our Thoughts
Hmh. That’s an interesting spin on a scavenger hunt and we have to admit that the prize waiting at the end is enticing. Of course, the question remains just how much “courage, reasoning and problem-solving” will actually play into the matter.
